For many years kupuna have tried to prepare makua and keiki to become the caretakers of our one hanau, Ho'okena Beach. Passing on fishing traditions is an important part of this.

As the pressure of outsiders increases, our culture, traditions

and our i'a are in danger of being lost. As kupuna hala, the kuleana for our young kanaka and makua to become involved is more critical if we are to survive as the hoa'aina of Ho'okena.
